SICILY. Segesta. Circa 475/70-455/50 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 22 mm, 8.60 g, 8 h). The river-god Krimisos, in the form of a hunting dog, standing right, on the scent. Rev. ΣECEΣTA 𐤆IBΕΜΙ Head of the nymph Aigeste to right, wearing hairband and with her hair bound up in a krobylos; all within shallow circular incuse. BMC 5 = ACGC 847 (same dies). HGC 2, 1114. SNG München 838 (same dies). Nicely toned and with an illustrious pedigree. Slightly rough and with minor areas of horn silver and light marks, otherwise, very fine.
